Every spring, the Babe Ruth Baseball League in Newburgh uses a baseball field, rent free, that is located on the Mulzer’s Crushed Stone Newburgh Yard property. The Babe Ruth League, Inc., a non-profit, educational organization, named after one of the greatest baseball players of all time – George Herman “Babe” Ruth – has come a long way since its modest start over 60 years ago. The Babe Ruth League, Inc. programs above all, are of, by and for youth. Its mission is to make better citizens through proper supervision of regulation competitive baseball and softball in addition to promoting mental and physical development. In adopting rules, in establishing standards and in all planning, the primary consideration is what is best for the participants. Babe Ruth League, Inc. would make the baseball immortal for whom the program is named very proud. Youth always had a special place reserved in “The Babe’s” heart.

Vann Road Park serves as the home for the Newburgh Junior Baseball and Newburgh Girls Softball leagues. With six lit fields for both baseball and softball, Vann Road Park serves over 900 young athletes every year with weekly summer leagues, weekend tournaments, and yearly all-star tournaments. However, that is not all Vann Road Park has to offer when it comes to outdoor activities.
Construction for the Upgrade Trailhead at Vann Road Park is nearing completion. The trailhead features a shelter, picnic area, parking, bike racks and more! Expanded parking is coming soon. Asphalt has also been laid for the trail around the 5-acre pond.
The pond is on a 185-acre parcel of reclaimed strip mine ground owned by the Warrick County Parks Department. Angler access is excellent for shore anglers as the entire shoreline is available to fishing. No boat ramp is present and there are no access fees to fish the lake. A large parking lot, park, and baseball diamonds are located directly south of the pond. Vann Park Pond’s fishery is currently regulated by the state’s standard length and bag limits
